ATC Augustine Art Nouveau by LaraInPink ATC Augustine Art Nouveau by LaraInPink
Edit I've changed the title because this is not the "official" ATC for the exchange. I prefer the other one, but it doesn't mean that I don't like this! xD

The first ATC I've done for the May Exchange on :iconatc-exchange: The theme was Art Nouveau.

I've done the ~Scrumpy-n-Ziki's character Augustine, who is a Gothis Lolita vampire. Is really hard to combine gothic lolita and art nouveau! Well, I don't think it's so difficult, but it would be easier if the paper was bigger (an ATC is 2'5x3'5 inches).

I've done two versions, because I couldn't decide xD
This one is focused in the jewerly and metallic works, so I've designed this kind of golden frame over her. One of the points that vindicated the Art Nouveau and modernism was to give importance to the Minor Arts (jewerly, illustration, calligraphy...), so I tried to vindicate it too xD
And I think it can be relation with gothic lolita style (and Lolita style in general) because it's an aesthetic focused in little details, like the jewerly ^^

Thank you!! I'm very glad you like it :aww: Well, your Augustine is a lovely character to draw, I did a lot of sketches of her wearing lovely dresses... but I wasn't able to combine them with Art Nouveau T_T

Ahh, so it's two versions of one art trade that you're doing there, is that what it means, Lara?
LaraInPink Featured By Owner Jun 2, 2010  Hobbyist General Artist
Well, kind of ^^U
It was supposed to be only one ATC, but I did two different sketches that I liked, and when I asked to my sister what to choose (she always helps me with this kind of decisions), she said that I should do the two xD
But finally, the exchange ATC is the other version, this is done only for fun :aww:

Well, regardless, both are very well done there, Lara. :D

I really like the blocking you did in this one!
It makes it feel cathedralishy. I know that is not a word, but I made it one :D! It is really lovely. I like it alot!
